How would you describe your style?
I am a story telling portrait photographer and enjoy creating art that is natural, candid and timeless! During portrait sessions, I don’t spend a lot of time on the latest trends and props because those things will quickly look outdated. I take care to capture you and your family, the way they are today, naturally interacting and enjoying themselves. That being said, sometimes those natural moments don't happen so "naturally" - or when they do, they aren't the most flattering or captivating of images. So I tend to create the moments that photograph well. The same philosophy applies to weddings, and I strive to capture all the natural moments as unobtrusively as possible.
What equipment do you use?
I use professional grade Nikon cameras and lenses. While I prefer natural light, I also use flash photography, both on camera and off. Often times churches and reception halls are rather dark and additional lighting may be necessary. And I always bring backup equipment, just in case!
How many pictures do we get?
I choose the very best images from your session, custom edit and process those 30-40 images. Wedding clients receive on average 600-800 images!
Will our photos be retouched?
All images are custom edited for color, exposure and clarity. Light skin retouching may be completed on portraits. Extensive retouching will be discussed with you and may incur additional charges.
When will we get our pictures back?
I know how excited and anxious you are to see your images so getting them back to you as quickly as possible is my top goal. It does takes some time to properly review each and every image and edit them appropriately. Portrait sessions are generally available two weeks after the session. For weddings, I share a few of my favorite images to social media in the week following your wedding. The rest of the images are normally ready in about four weeks from your actual wedding date. Images will be shared online in a private gallery and can be downloaded directly from there. Wedding clients also receive a custom USB drive – the perfect heirloom to keep your images forever!
Can we print the images wherever we want?
Yes! All portrait sessions and weddings include high resolution digital images. A print release is provided, along with suggestions on where to print.
Do you offer prints and albums?
Of course! Some packages include albums, both portraits and weddings. In today’s digital age, I feel that having printed images is so important. And let’s be honest – we all have great intentions to print our images, but life gets in the way. If your anything like me, it never actually gets done! Instead, let me do the work for you by designing custom albums from your session. Prints can also be ordered directly from the online gallery for very reasonable prices.
Can you replicate these images from Pinterest?
I love it when clients share their ideas with me! Many photographers gawk at the idea of a Pinterest board because it may not be their style or what they are comfortable doing. However, I feel like it’s a great place for us to begin discussing and sharing the images my clients are hoping to achieve and I can discuss how those images might work for your specific situation.
Do you charge for travel or multiple locations?
Travel charges will apply if your portrait session or wedding is more than an hour from Ingleside, IL or in a venue with parking fees or other expenses. Using multiple locations for portraits on the wedding day will not incur any travel costs.
Do you have insurance?
Of course! I can provide proof of liability insurance if your venue requests it.
What do you wear?
For a wedding, I wear mostly black clothing with comfortable shoes or sandals. In the warmer months, I may wear a sun dress to dress for the weather.
Do you work with an assistant or second photographer?
All wedding packages have the option to add a second photographer for an hourly rate. We will work together to determine your time line and when a second photographer might be helpful. At times, I may bring an assistant to portraits or weddings at no additional charge.
How long have you been a photographer?
I have been in business since 2012, but actually began learning photography and the technical aspect of shooting since high school! My business began with family portraits. After years of education and experience, I added newborn photography, sports, weddings and events.
How do we book our session with Caryn Anne Photography?
I require a 50% retainer for both portrait sessions and weddings. The retainer is due to reserve the date and together we electronically sign a photography agreement. For portraits, the balance is due upon delivery of the images. For weddings, the balance is due 15 days before your actual wedding date. Payment plans are available as I know that helps me budget for expenses!
